Jewish Folklore

In Jewish Folklore, she acts as a succubus and comes to men during the night causing them to have wet dreams. Referred to as “Lilith Sex”. Today though Lilith is worshipped as a strong sexual goddess who refused to bow down to her husband and left paradise instead of becoming his subordinate. She is a powerful and highly sought-after goddess to work with, in the pagan world.

“Of Adams’s first wife, Lilith, it is told

(The witch he loved before the gift of Eve)

That ere the snakes, her sweet tongue could deceive

her enchanted hair was the first gold-

And still she sits, young while the earth is old

And, subtly of herself contemplative,

Draws men to watch the bright net she can weave,

Till heart ad body and life are in its hold” – Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Lilith.

Let us look at how you can start working with Lilith Goddess and harness her incredible energies in ritual practices…

The best way to begin a relationship with the Goddess Lilith is to study everything you can about her. Especially, since Lilith (the Female Demon Archetype) exists in just about every ancient tradition in the world. You want to get to know the Deity you are going to be working with.

The Altar

After learning about Lilith, you should now set up an Altar space dedicated to her. The altar will help you get into the right mind space when working with the goddess. This altar should be held as a sacred place with the sole purpose of encapsulating the energies of Lilith goddess of night. Lilith’s favorite colors are red and black, and she is associated with snakes and birds, so they should be included in the décor. You should also invest in a Lilith statue.

This will allow you to establish a connection with her much easier when you can see the deity as well as the sigil associated with her. Place incense and candles on the altar. She loves plants and mirrors so you will want to incorporate those items as well. Keep in mind the altar is also a great space for mantra attunement work. When one uses mantras daily, over time, it becomes possible to invoke the deity into oneself and harness control of their powers. To use for alchemy, divination, and sorcery. This method obviously takes longer than the normal ritual, but nevertheless, it remains amazingly effective.

Prayers to Lilith

One of the best ways to start connecting with Lilith is to align one’s personal energy with that of the dark goddess. This can be done using Spells or Mantras like mentioned earlier.

A Mantra “is a sacred utterance, a numinous sound, a syllable, word or phonemes, or group of words in Sanskrit believed by practitioners to have religious, magical, or spiritual powers in Hinduism. Some mantras have a syntactic structure and literal meaning, while others do not.” – Wikipedia.

When we use mantras the sounds and vibrations cause changes in our consciousness and inside our minds. This manifests itself in changes to the world around us. Mantras are also looked at as the personification of deities in the vibrational configuration. When one uses mantras daily, you can eventually invoke Lilith into yourself and gain access to her powers. When you add mantras to your day-to-day practices it will enhance your spell work immensely.

Offerings

Leaving appropriate offerings on a regular basis for Lilith on her altar is essential. When leaving an offer, you can incorporate wine specifically red, musk incense, tea, water, candles, animals, written offerings of any sort. Blood offerings are also typically made from a cut on the appropriate finger.

Sigils

There are sigils and symbols associated with Lilith. These sigils can be worn or drawn and then kept for protection. When holding the image of Lilith in your subconscious will let your mind make a connection with her. You can also meditate with these sigils as well as use mantras to activate them

Adam’s first wife is she.

Beware the lure within her lovely tresses,

The splendid sole adornment of her hair;

When she succeeds therewith a youth to snare,

Not soon again she frees him from her jesses.” -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust, scene 21. Walpurgis Night. Bayard Taylor’s translation.
